Introduction

Having reached the midpoint of 2026, it is a fitting moment to reflect on a year that has already brought significant milestones, new faces, and a few celebrations along the way. Here are some of our highlights from the first 6 months of the year.

Welcoming Simon Lough as Chair

The year began with an important development at Board level, with the appointment of Simon Lough as Chair of LGB & Co. Limited. Simon brings extensive experience in financial services leadership, including senior roles at Heartwood Wealth Management and AIM-listed WH Ireland, as well as service on the Financial Conduct Authority’s Smaller Business Practitioner Panel. Having acted as a Board Adviser to LGB for the preceding 18 months, his appointment reflects a natural progression and a shared confidence in the firm’s direction. With Simon overseeing governance and strategic planning, Founder and Managing Director Andrew Boyle is able to focus on the growing volume of transactions being arranged by the Capital Markets team.

Tournament winners at the Simply Cup

In January, the LGB team returned to the Simply Asset Finance annual Simply Cup five-a-side charity football tournament — and this year, we went one better than last. Having reached the quarter finals in 2025, we are delighted to report that the team went on to be crowned tournament winners in 2026. With 34 teams competing and over £32,000 raised for Cancer Research UK, it was an outstanding day for the industry and an even more rewarding cause.

Welcoming Omar Haroun to the Capital Markets Team

We were also pleased to welcome Omar Haroun to the Capital Markets team in February, joining as Associate Director. Omar brings over five years of structured finance experience from his time at NatWest, most recently in leveraged finance where he worked across both origination and portfolio management teams focusing largely on mid-market transactions. He works alongside Andrew Boyle on origination, transaction structuring, and issuer management, and his background in complex capital structures is well suited to LGB’s MTN origination activity.

Universal Leasing Limited MTN Programme increased to £25m

In April, LGB Capital Markets was pleased to announce an increase in the programme limit for Universal Leasing Limited’s secured Medium Term Note Programme to £25 million. This reflects the continued confidence of investors in the MTN model, and the strength of the relationship between LGB and its issuer clients.

Toasting Ivan Sedgwick’s retirement

April also marked a fond farewell to Investment Director Ivan Sedgwick, who retired after fifteen years at LGB and a 40-year career in financial services. Ivan’s clarity of thought, depth of market knowledge, and distinctive voice made a lasting impression on colleagues and clients throughout his time at the firm, and he was celebrated at a reception at The Travellers Club in March. We wish him every happiness in his retirement. Before departing, Ivan shared some characteristically thoughtful reflections on a long career in markets, which are well worth reading for anyone with an interest in investment. You can find his parting thoughts here.

Ten years of the LGB SME Private Debt Fund

1 June 2026 marked the tenth anniversary of the LGB SME Private Debt Fund. Launched in June 2016 at £100 per share, the fund has grown to £195.55 per share as at 31 May 2026, representing an annualised return of 6.93% per annum over a decade, without a single negative calendar year.

The fund invests primarily in the secured MTN Programmes arranged by LGB Capital Markets, and its offshore gross roll-up structure allows returns to compound within the fund, with investors retaining control over the timing of any taxable event on disposal. As the UK tax environment continues to evolve, flexibility has become an increasingly relevant consideration for many investors.

We published a full tenth anniversary article to mark the occasion, which you can read here. We are proud of what the fund has achieved and grateful to the investors who have been part of that journey.

Global ABS Conference, Barcelona

LGB’s CEO, Cedric Parent, and Associate Director of Capital Markets, Omar Haroun, returned to Barcelona in June for the Global ABS Structured Finance Conference – an important fixture in the calendar for meeting existing and new counterparties across the structured finance market. It was another productive few days of conversation and connection, and a valuable opportunity to represent LGB on the international stage.

Summer drinks on the Thames

June also brought our annual summer drinks party, and with it another gloriously sunny evening on the river. It was a pleasure to welcome so many familiar and new faces to the gathering, and a particularly fitting occasion to raise a toast to a milestone-filled year — including two decades as a regulated firm and ten years of the LGB SME Private Debt Fund. Events like this are a reminder of what matters most: the relationships we have built with our investing and corporate clients over many years.

Looking forward

While many slow down a little over the summer months, it is business as usual at LGB, with a great deal to look forward to in the second half of the year. We are working towards establishing a new MTN Programme in the coming months, with several others in the pipeline, and will remain active throughout the summer with a number of upcoming issues.

We are also looking forward to welcoming prospective investors to an event in September at The Shard in London, where members of the LGB team will present on how a laddered fixed income portfolio can deliver predictable income and attractive risk-adjusted returns. If you would like to express an interest in attending, please do not hesitate to get in touch by emailing Ruby Blackwood ([email protected]).
